We Love Shakespeare!

For ages 10-18

Thursdays, 5:30-7:00 pm

The name says everything! Working toward a spring performance, this closely knit group brings characters to life, argues over the meaning of a scene, wallows in the wonderful language, explores shared emotions, improvises on themes and in the midst of all the fun develops a passionate love and understanding of Shakespeare!

We prepare a performance using the original Shakespeare text, edited only for time without changing a single word. Each performance is in full costume with lots of action and even a song or two. By performing with scripts in hand, the actors are free to fully become their characters without worrying about memorization.

Students can come as early as 4:00 pm for small groups and individual scenes. Regular class time is 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Parents are coordinated to provide pasta or soup dinners with salad for the group.

Shakespeare For Everyone

For ages 10-18, no fee, by interview

Mondays, 3:30-5:30 pm

In 2008 our We Love Shakespeare! group performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream to rave reviews and unbridled enthusiasm. The group was so excited by their own experience that we created a one-hour adaptation of Midsummer as our first Shakespeare Repertory piece to be performed throughout the community.

This new program is called Shakespeare for Everyone and aims to bring performances to students, seniors and any audience who might not otherwise get to see Shakespeare performed live.

There is no charge for participating in Shakepeare for Everyone and we are grateful to Target and the Junior League of Boca Raton for sponsoring this program.

For more information or to interview, call Susan at 561 482-3412.
